About NextRoute
NextRoute.run is a platform designed to make discovering running routes simple, wherever you are. Many runners face the same problem: finding routes that are enjoyable, safe, and well adapted to a specific training distance. This challenge becomes even greater when running in an unfamiliar city while traveling.
NextRoute was created to solve this problem by automatically generating running routes from a starting point and a target distance. Instead of relying on traditional navigation tools that simply calculate the shortest path between two locations, NextRoute produces optimized running loops designed specifically for runners. This allows users to explore new neighborhoods, vary their training routes, and spend less time planning and more time running.
The platform relies on open geographic data sources, including maps from OpenStreetMap and elevation data from satellite imagery. Using this information, a custom algorithm evaluates several parameters such as distance accuracy, elevation changes, road types, safety, and scenic features in order to generate routes that are both practical and enjoyable.
By combining data, algorithms, and an intuitive web interface, NextRoute aims to simplify route planning while encouraging runners to explore their surroundings and stay active wherever they go.
